PLACES THAT ARE BUILT ONLY AS SIGNS FROM AFAR. GETTING CLOSER, THEY DO NOT HAVE A NAME
30 October–10 November 2018
Blickle Raum Spiegelgasse, Vienna
Curated by: Carola Dertnig and Claudia Slanar
Within a topographical setting composed of mats and objects, visitors are invited to engage in a haptic and physical relationship with the surfaces and volumes. The specially produced and designed silicone objects are taken from a negative mold, analogous to a printing process with a positive pressure plate. The serial “prints” of the mats slowly remove parts of the mold, clean it and change it. The objects, along with olfactory elements, contribute to an atmosphere that transforms the space into an organic container. Within this environment, philosopher Johannes Siegmund guides visitors through a philosophical experiment aimed at achieving a symbiosis of mental and physical experience.
