Over the course of ten nights, the artist and his friends were challenged to invent quick and spontaneous works for the unsettled space of Schneiderei. Visible only from the outside, the illuminated gallery addressed late-night visitors of the “New Bar” on their way home. The casual setup was intended to catch passersby off guard and subtly shift their perception.
As in previous exhibitions—UP AND DOWN, SINGLE UNIT HUNTER STYLE, and THE QUIET MIDDLE BODY (the latter in collaboration with Portuguese residency artist Vasco Costa in July)—LAST ORDERS continues Wolfgang Obermair’s exploration of artistic collaboration. His approach treats Schneiderei as a site for ongoing, form-shaping artistic work.
On the first night, Sunday the 26th at 11:30 pm, the music film Space Is the Place by Sun Ra (1974) will also be shown at the “New Bar.”
